Remember Me
Remember Me is written from the perspective of the thief on the cross, a mirror of every one of us. The song follows his journey from unworthiness to revelation, all unfolding in a single moment, in that brief yet eternity-shifting conversation he had with Jesus on the cross. It was a conversation of hope, where a dying man encountered a love far greater than his failures and dared to believe that mercy was meant even for him.
It opens with the thief recognising Jesus’ holiness and his own brokenness. He has nothing to offer except the surrender of his life, yet he longs to be with the One hanging beside him. Chorus 1 holds that tension: a hesitant hope, a reaching for mercy he knows he does not deserve.
The bridge captures his desperate cry, “Lord, remember me, hanging here beside Thee.” It is the raw confession of a sinner who knows he should have died, yet still calls upon the King of Heaven for rescue.
In Chorus 2 the revelation breaks through. With one look from Jesus he discovers freedom. With one encounter belief rises. The chorus is not a new story but the same longing transformed, where hope becomes certainty, desire becomes devotion and the thief recognises Christ’s majesty and proclaims Him as King.
At its core, Remember Me is our story too. Like the thief we stand guilty with nothing to bring, but Jesus forgives, removes every sin and promises paradise. The song invites us to see ourselves on that cross beside Him, to hear His words of mercy and to respond with repentance and surrendered worship.
